In the San Francisco Bay Area Green Economy Think Tank is working on a number of initiatives to grow the region’s green economy. We partnered with SF Environment and other officials in the San Francisco Green Economic Forum May 25, 2011. The Forum was designed to gather recommendations and actions for Mayor Lee to implement programs to spur jobs and economic opportunity while at the same time addressing the challenges of climate change. We helped convene the event and a number of follow up events to help implement recommendations from the conference.
Green Economy Think Tank co-created the "Green Chemistry for a New Economy" Conference in collaboration with Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, Bay Area Council and SF Environment in Fall 2011. The conference was designed to provide a series of recommendations to Governor Jerry Brown in implementing AB 1879 known as the "Green Chemistry Initiative." Over 80 key experts and stakeholders were brought together to provide a framework that the initiative could inspire job creation, investment and new industry growth through making California a leading state in the field of Green Chemistry.

Green Economy Think Tank convened a collaborative project between Impact Investors, City Officials and Government Agencies in response to the outcomes of our two conferences to weave capital and impact together more effectively in the Bay Area. In particular we have found that access to capital is a key issue to grow regional green economic development. Additionally, we convened Impact Investors and City Officials to explore how social enterprises and green businesses can be an essential component of revitalizing Central Market Street. There are also initiatives underway with a consortium of leading stakeholder organizations, including business, government, philanthropic, civic and investment groups to scope the opportunities for green economic activity in the region. We are part of leading efforts to advance green business and clean technology incubators and to develop new financing mechanisms for distributed renewable energy systems and energy efficiency upgrades for homes, businesses and municipal facilities.
Green Economy Think Tank sent a delegation to the United Nations 2012 Earth Summit in Rio de Janiero. In particular our delegation contributed significantly to the Collective Impact Project: Impact Investing & Social Enterprise at the UN Rio+20 Earth Summit.
